August 1: Back from THe WILPF Congress in Bolivia! See the wonderful Congress photos on the Geneva web site.. Read the U.S. WILPF blog entries by Kate Zaiden (US Section Program Coordinator) and Carol Urner (continuing co-convener of the international Peace and Security Working Group). Watch here for official Congress documents as soon as they become available. And read C.J. Minster's blog, now posted on the Geneva WILPF web sitewith day-by-day reports of Congress business ..

August 1: Deadline for WILPF Peace and Freedom articles on Latin America and Campaign and Issue Committee reports. Be sure to report your Branch, Campaign and Issue Committee news to Philadelphia.

August 6: Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan in 1945. National and International commemorations and rededication to abolition of nuclear weapons. Access www.August6.org (the national registry suppported by UFPJ) and enter your own events there. Enter your own event reports there and/or send them to carol.disarm@gmail.com for assistance in entering. Also access our own WILPF UPDATE for both event listings and resources.

August 6: View White Light, Black Rain on HBO tonight and every day in August. Use the referenced discussion guide which is on www.August6.org. This thought provoking documentary chronicles the bombings of Hiroshiima and Nagasaki and their aftermath.

August 9: Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. Continuation of national and international commemorations and actions in support of abolition of nuclear weapons. August 18: Stop war with Iran before it starts! Read the article in this week's Time magazine. Robert Baer warns that putting the Iran Revolutionary Guard on the Terrorism list may well be prelude to an attack on the Guard and Iran's nuclear facilities within the next six months. If even Time magazine is worried, shouldn't WILPF be taking action?

July 1: US Social forum in Atlanta Georgia ends. Read reports of DISARM work shops at the forum. Check out the photos and audio tapes on the US WILPF web pages. Also find a complete listing of WILPF work shops and events there. We can feel pride in our participation and impact!

July 9: EYE on Congress Alert with news from FCNL on Congressional legislation re cluster bombs. Scroll down for information on the latest Congressional successes and failures regarding nuclear weapons.

July 12: Ellen Barfield, WILPF DISARM co-chair is one of seven acquitted by a Washington D.C. jury after their March 29 arrest for protesting in the Hart Senate office building while Senators were voting to support $95 billion in Iraq and Afghanistan war funding. Read the story on Common Dreams.

July 17: House debate on earmarks and final floor action on the Energy and Water Appropriations bill, H.R. 2461, which includes the nuclear weapons programs of the Energy Department. Broadcast and webcast on C-Span.

July 21-26: International WILPF Congress in Santa Cruz, Bolivia
